The PGA Championship was held for the first time in Bronxville, New York, in the year 1916. Until then golf had been primarily a leisure-time diversion for wealthy amateurs. However, the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) wished to create a tournament in which professional golfers could meet on equal terms. From that moment on the competition, held every August, rapidly became the centre of the entire sport: To this day the PGA Championship sets relevant impulses for experts as well as for amateurs. Participation is an honour not only for every player, but for each and every sponsor as well: Mercedes-Benz has been a proud "Official Patron" of the event since 2010. The tradition-steeped company also provides the "Official Vehicle". This year players and guests can enjoy a very special highlight of the vehicle fleet, for it includes the new S-Class.
