The new A-Class has the latest driver assistance systems with cooperative support of the driver and therefore, with active safety, offers the highest level in the segment with a range of functions from the S-Class. For the first time, the A-Class can drive partially automatically in certain situations. For this it has a clear view of the traffic environment: improved camera and radar sensor systems allow it to see up to 500 metres ahead. Plus, the A-Class uses map and navigation data for assistance functions.
This means the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC can offer route-based support to driver in a variety of situations as part of the Driving Assistance Package and comfortably adjust the speed in advance before corners, crossings or roundabouts, for example. What's more there are also the Active Emergency Stop Assist and an intuitively clear Active Lane Change Assist. As standard on board the new A-Class there is an expanded Active Brake Assist.
