32-year-old Scott, one of the most elegant golfers, is renowned for his perfect swing. And yet he narrowly missed victory in the 2012 Open Championship despite his successes in the Australian Masters in December. And now the 2013 Masters in Augusta.
A theatrical victory: In the fourth round, on the 18th hole he played a birdie and reached a playoff against Argentine golfer Ángel Cabrera. Both rivals had 279 strokes each at this point. At the second extra-hole however, Cabrera stayed with his par behind the Australian's new birdie – and thus the famous Green Jacket went to a new owner: Adam Scott. He dedicated his victory to his great idol, Greg Norman, who never won the Masters Tournament himself, but was full of praise for his young fellow countryman and declared Scott to be the most successful golfer in the history of the fifth continent. Perfect legends generally write themselves. Mercedes-Benz is proud to be associated with such talent.
